Health Occupations

The healthcare field is the fastest growing industry and is expected to continue to grow even more in the future. All health science classes include a core curriculum that covers medical terminolgy, CPR, first aid and anatomy.

First year students in the Health Occupations class will gain skills that can be applied in any health care specialty and be valuable thoughout their career. Students learn in the classroom and in a variety of clinical settings in the community. All health careers require a basic knowledge of medical terminology, vital signs, CPR and first aid. This class covers all that, plus universal precautions, anatomy, physiology, people skills and more.

Health Occupations students must have ability in math and science, be problem solvers and able to work well in a group.

Second year students begin to specialize in a health career area of their choice. Certification is available in some areas.

The Health Occupations programs are located at Howell High School and Brighton High School.

Emergency Medical Service and certification may be obtained for those interested the year-long program
